—The Bush Administration’s Executive Order 13423, signed Jan. 24, 2007, set energy efficiency targets, as well as tried to increase government efficiency on use of Energy. Yesterday, October 5, “President Obama signed an Executive Order (attached) today that sets sustainability goals for Federal agencies and focuses on making improvements in their environmental, energy and economic performance,” which, essentially, builds on President Bush’s earlier order. The idea, according to the White House press release, is for the government to “lead by example.”
