Today, a Washington Post editorial notes:
FIVE YEARS AGO, Sen. John F. Kerry argued during his presidential campaign that the United States had dangerously neglected the war in Afghanistan.
Too bad Kerry did not get that coverage in 2004, when instead he was repeatedly, and mistakenly, derided in the Post as a flip flopper on Iraq, and rather weak on national security.
And once again, let’s take a look at some of the reasons why the war in Iraq was neglected — that is, in stark contrast to “weak on national security” Kerry during his election run, this same Washington Post annointed foreign policy and national security expert, during his election run, was saying what, exactly, back around that same time period?
Which puts the question to the Post: Why exactly was it that Kerry was weak on national security? And why was this latter individual, in your same newspaper some four years later, annointed as our foreign policy and national security expert?
